Looking to buy an Iseki TA Landleader? This is the place to start. In this series we cover the complete Iseki TA series based on the original manual, so you know exactly what you're buying, how to maintain it, and where the points of attention are.
Suitable for the entire series: Iseki TA207, TA227, TA247, TA263, TA267, TA287 and TA317 – both the 2WD versions and the 4WD versions (TA207F to TA317F).
The Iseki TA Landleader is a robust compact tractor from Japan with 20 to 30.5 hp, a water-cooled 3-cylinder diesel engine, and no fewer than 16 forward gears and 16 reverse gears. The chassis runs in one piece from front to back, making the Landleader also excellently suited for a front loader. As standard, the series has power steering (except the C version), an adjustable steering column, and a sturdy three-point linkage at the rear. Most units in the Netherlands were imported as used machines from Japan (grey import).
| Model | Engine | Displacement | Power | Weight (2WD) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| TA207 | E3AG1-D02K | 1429 cc | 20 hp / 2500 rpm | 993 kg |
| TA227 | E3AG1-D02K | 1429 cc | 22 hp / 2500 rpm | 995 kg |
| TA247 | E3AG1-D06 | 1429 cc | 24 hp / 2500 rpm | 1025 kg |
| TA263 | E3AD1-HD02K | 1498 cc | 26 hp / 2500 rpm | 1025 kg |
| TA267 | E3AD1-HD02K | 1498 cc | 26 hp / 2500 rpm | 1065 kg |
| TA287 | E3AD1-HD04K | 1498 cc | 28 hp / 2800 rpm | 1095 kg |
| TA317 | E3AD1-HD04K | 1498 cc | 30.5 hp / 2800 rpm | 1125 kg |
Pay close attention to the engine type when buying: the TA207, TA227 and TA247 have the 1429 cc E3AG1 engine, while the TA263, TA267, TA287 and TA317 have the 1498 cc E3AD1. That difference determines which gaskets, piston rings, and injectors fit – these are not interchangeable between the two engines. So always check the type plate and not just the model name.
Within the series there are several versions, recognizable by the letters in the type designation. The C version has mechanical steering (recirculating ball) without power steering, all other versions have integral power steering. The G version has an independent PTO with its own control switch and PTO lamp, the K version has the so-called super full-turn function with its own indicator light on the dashboard, and the WX version has the fully electronic hydraulic lift with horizontal control and backup function. That last one in particular is unique in this class – read all about it in our article about the Iseki TA rear lift and hydraulics.
A number of points deserve extra attention during a viewing. First of all, test the electric rear lift extensively: let the lift go all the way up and down several times, also with the descent-speed dial in different positions. From experience we know that on older units the electronic control box can get "stuck", causing the lift to no longer lower, or to suddenly lower unexpectedly. This can often be resolved with the correct adjustment of the sensors or cleaning of the ground points, but it's good to know this before buying. Also check whether all indicator lights (oil, charge current, hydraulic filter) come on with the ignition and go off after starting, whether the machine starts well when cold with preheating, whether the water pump shows no play or leakage (the well-known wear point on the Landleader series), whether the engine doesn't smoke blue or black under load, whether the clutch doesn't slip, and on 4WD models whether the front axle stub axles are dry – oil leakage there indicates worn seals. See how to recognize and resolve these issues in our article about Iseki TA faults. Finally, ask whether the chassis number and type plate are present – with grey imports this determines which parts fit.
An important advantage of the TA series is that virtually all wear parts are readily available: filters, clutch set (SKU-999998), the water pump (SKU-321), radiator (SKU-3251), starter motor, alternator, glow plugs, gaskets, and seals. There's also plenty available for restoring a tired machine: a complete front mask / grille mask for the TA207 – TA317F (SKU-16009) when the nose is damaged, a rear light reflector set (SKU-16010), model-specific sticker sets such as the sticker set Landleader TA210 (SKU-32009) and a new seat (SKU-42011). For reference for those who want to search further themselves: the TA series is closely related to certain Massey Ferguson 1200 compact models, meaning some parts correspond – always verify this against the engine type and serial number.
Product tip: start with a major service after purchase. The Complete maintenance set Iseki TA | TA207 – TA317 (VAR-100121) contains everything for the first service, and with the Engine oil filter + oil 15W40 set Iseki TA Landleader (SKU-15W402/001) you can immediately change the engine oil.
