Yanmar Ke Series Filters: Replacing the Oil, Fuel, and Air Filter
The three filters on your Yanmar Ke-1, Ke-1D, Ke-2D, or Ke-3D — oil, fuel, and air — together determine the engine's lifespan. In this article you'll read when to replace which filter on the Yanmar Ke series, how to go about it, and what to watch out for.
Suitable for the entire series: Yanmar Ke-1, Ke-1D, Ke-2D, and Ke-3D. The intervals are the same for all models; the filters themselves differ per engine code (3TN63, 3TN66, or 3TNE68) — always check this on the type plate.

If you work a lot in dusty conditions (dry milling, mowing), stick to shorter intervals for the air filter and clean the dust screen in front of the radiator daily.
Replacing the engine oil filter
Always replace the oil filter together with the engine oil (2.2 l). Lightly oil the rubber seal, then tighten the new filter element by hand, run the engine briefly, and check for leaks around the filter. Then check the oil level again.
Fuel filter: your insurance against starting problems
The 3TN diesel engines are sensitive to water and dirt in the fuel — by far most running issues with this series start here. Drain the filter bowl regularly, rinse the element at the 50-hour check, and replace the element every 300 hours. After working on the fuel system, it must be bled; otherwise the engine won't start or will run irregularly. Don't close the fuel tap unnecessarily after work — forgetting to open it again (the "C" position) is a classic cause of "it won't start."
Air filter: dry element, do not wash
The Ke series has a dry paper air filter element. During inspection, tap it out carefully or blow it clean from the inside with low-pressure compressed air. Always replace a damaged or oil-soaked element: a leaking air filter means dust wear on pistons and cylinders, and you'll immediately notice a clogged element through power loss and black smoke.

The filters follow the engine code: 3TN63 (Ke-1/Ke-1D), 3TN66 (Ke-2D), or 3TNE68 (Ke-3D).
