A good maintenance schedule keeps your Kubota B1-14, B1-15, B1-16, or B1-17 reliable for decades. The maintenance intervals and adjustment values below come straight from the original manual and apply to all four models.
Suitable for the entire series: B1-14, B1-15, B1-16, and B1-17, including the Zen-noh rebadges ZB1-14 through ZB1-17.

A few actions are mandatory according to the manual during break-in, after 35 and after 50 operating hours. These include the first engine oil change, the first transmission/hydraulic oil change with strainer cleaning, adjusting the brake, and checking the V-belt. A new or recently overhauled engine settles in during those first hours; changing the oil early flushes away the break-in particles. So never skip this first service.
| Component | Interval |
|---|---|
| Engine oil change | 1st time at break-in (±50 h), then periodically (±100 h) |
| Engine oil filter (cartridge) | ±200 h |
| Transmission/hydraulic oil + strainer + hydraulic filter | 1st time at 50 h, then ±300 h |
| Fuel filter element | ±400 h / annually |
| Air filter element | clean ±50 h, replace ±400 h / annually |
| Front axle and rotor case oils (4WD / rotor) | 1st time at 50 h, then ±300 h |
| Grease nipples lubrication | ±50 h |
| Clutch release hub lubrication | ±300 h |
| V-belt check / adjustment | ±50 h |
| Toe-in (alignment) check | ±100 h |
| Radiator internal cleaning | ±500 h |
| Coolant change | every 2 years |
| Fuel/return lines and radiator hoses | replace every 2 years |
| Battery fluid check | ±50 h |
Three adjustments determine whether the tractor runs smoothly and safely. The values come from the manual.
Press with your finger in the middle of the belt between the pulleys. The correct tension is achieved when the belt deflects about 7 mm. Too loose and the alternator won't charge sufficiently and the water pump will pump too slowly; too tight and you'll put strain on the bearings. To adjust, loosen the alternator mounting, shift the alternator slightly, and tighten it again.
You adjust the pedal play via the tensioning screw: loosen the lock nut and adjust the play. Then check whether the parking brake locks properly when you fully depress the pedal. A brake that sinks too far before engaging needs adjustment — no delay from a safety standpoint.
You adjust the clutch pedal play via the clutch rod. Note: the adjustment bolt that limits the maximum travel of the diaphragm is a factory setting. Leave it alone, otherwise you'll overload the clutch diaphragm.
