Iseki TU165 engine oil and fluids: all capacities at a glance

Iseki TU165 engine oil and fluids: all capacities at a glance

Before topping up oil or coolant in your Iseki TU165, it's helpful to know exactly which fluid goes where and how much you need. In this article, we've listed all the capacities for you, including an important point about the hydraulic system that you shouldn't miss.

Suitable for the entire series: Iseki Landhope TU145, TU155, TU165 and TU175 (2WD and 4WD versions).

Iseki TU165 fluid capacities

The capacities below apply to all models in the series (TU145, TU155, TU165, TU175) — they are identical for all four in the factory manual.

System Capacity Fluid type Applicable to
Radiator (cooling system) 5.5 liters LLC coolant All models
Engine oil 2.7 liters Engine oil, correct viscosity for the season All models
Transmission/gearbox (incl. hydraulics) 12 liters Giro oil (transmission/hydraulic oil) All models
Front gearbox 0.5 liters Giro oil 4WD versions only
Front axle 3 liters Giro oil 4WD versions only
Power steering 1.0 liter Hydraulic oil Power steering (PS) versions only
Fuel tank 16 liters Diesel JIS #2 (JIS #3 in severe frost) All models
Steering axle/kingpin, center pivot Grease 2WD versions only
Clutch and brake pedal pivot points Grease All models
2P lift bracket (X version) Grease Versions with 2P lift bracket

Iseki TU165: transmission oil is also your hydraulic oil

An important point to remember: with this Iseki series, the transmission oil is also the hydraulic oil at the same time. So there's no separate hydraulic reservoir with its own oil — the 12 liters of giro oil in the transmission/gearbox feeds the gearbox, the differential, and the hydraulic lift system, as well as (if present) the power steering on the front axle. In practice, this means two things:

  • A low oil level in the transmission can directly manifest itself as hydraulics that fail to build up pressure or a lift mechanism that responds sluggishly.
  • When changing the transmission oil, you're effectively changing your hydraulic oil at the same time — all the more reason to replace it on time and not keep driving on contaminated oil for too long.

Iseki TU165 warm-up times after a cold start

Especially in the colder months, it's important to let the engine warm up sufficiently before putting it under heavy load. The factory manual provides the following guidelines for this:

Outside temperature Idle warm-up time before full load
0°C and above 5-10 minutes
0°C to -10°C 10-20 minutes
-10°C to -20°C 20-30 minutes
Below -20°C 30 minutes or more

Note: the factory manual explicitly warns that applying (heavy) load too quickly after a cold start can lead to seizing or damage to the hydraulic pump. Because the transmission and hydraulic oil share the same system in this tractor, this is especially relevant: cold, thick oil simply needs time to start flowing properly before the hydraulic pump is put under heavy load.

Changing your engine oil? Combine this with the complete filter set Iseki TU Landhope for €28.50, so you can replace the oil, oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter in one go. Not sure about your coolant level? Also check the water pump Iseki TU 14-17hp (€59.50) for leaks.
