The Mitsubishi K3 engines in the Iseki TU series are simple, solid units — but as with any diesel, using the right fluid at the right time makes the difference between 5,000 and 15,000 trouble-free operating hours. The overview below applies to both the 00 series (TU1400/1500/1600) and the 01 series (TU1401/1501/1601): the specifications are identical.

Always check the engine oil with the tractor on level ground, with the engine off, and after letting it sit for at least 3 minutes so the oil can drain back into the sump.

Always use an LLC (long-life coolant) — this prevents limescale buildup and corrosion in the cast-iron block and protects the water pump seal. A water pump leaking at the "weep hole" (drain hole at the bottom of the pump) indicates a worn shaft seal; a grinding or scraping noise indicates a worn bearing. Both are reasons to replace the pump before the engine overheats.

On tractors that have been idle for a long time, old, contaminated diesel is one of the most common causes of hard starting. Replace the fuel and fuel filter if the tractor has been sitting for more than a year, and then carefully bleed the fuel system.
