Properly storing a Yanmar F195 through FX265 is half the maintenance battle: most rust, fuel, and battery problems don't develop during work, but during the months the tractor sits idle. These are the factory manual's guidelines, supplemented with practical winter tips.
Suitable for the entire series: F195(D), FX195(D), F215(D), FX215(D), F235(D), FX235(D), F255(D), FX255(D), F265(D), and FX265(D).
Wash the tractor clean the same day and wipe it dry — especially after spreading fertilizer or wet work. When doing so, aim as little water as possible at the electrical parts (dashboard, control box, alternator). Then grease the lubrication points, especially after working in mud or water, to force moisture out of the bearing points. If you're covering the machine, wait at least 10 minutes until the engine has cooled down.
After winter storage, go through this list before the first workday: oil levels (engine, transmission, front axle), coolant level, tire pressure, connect the battery and measure voltage, open the fuel valve and bleed the system if needed, release the clutch lock, and check all clearances (brake 30–40 mm, clutch 15–25 mm, steering 20–50 mm). Start the engine, let it warm up for 5 minutes at 1500 rpm, and test the lift, PTO, and brakes before real work begins. If the first service of the season coincides with an interval from the maintenance schedule, this is the perfect moment for fresh oil and filters.
Two components deserve extra attention with seasonal use. The V-belt: rubber actually ages during periods of inactivity, so check the deflection (10–15 mm) and for cracking every spring. And the rubber lines: fuel hoses and radiator hoses should be replaced every two years according to the factory, regardless of operating hours — a cracked fuel line is a fire hazard and is guaranteed to ruin your first workday.
💡 Product tip: turn the spring ritual into a complete annual service with the Yanmar F-series filter set (suitable for the entire F195 through FX265 series) and a fresh V-belt.
