Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 hitch, PTO and hydraulics: how it works

The hitch and hydraulics of the Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 use the same oil as the transmission and rear axle. As a result, the hydraulic filter also filters the transmission oil. Read below how the system works, what you can adjust, and what versions are available.

Hinomoto E1804 working with a rotary tiller

Suitable for the entire series: Hinomoto E1802 (2WD) and E1804 (4WD) with Toyosha CS112 engine.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 hydraulic oil and pump

Transmission, rear axle and hydraulics use the same oil: approx. 23 L for the manual transmission and approx. 26 L for the hydrostatic transmission. The hydraulic filter is located at the top left of the transmission housing and also filters the transmission oil. The hydraulic pump is a gear pump on the timing gear cover, driven by the camshaft gear.

If you are replacing the pump, let the new pump run in at idle and without load for approx. 30 minutes first.

Running in for 30 minutes, does that apply to every new pump? Yes. The workshop manual specifies that a new hydraulic pump should first run at idle and without load for approx. 30 minutes.

Tip: need a new pump? View the Hydraulic pump (SKU-115008). The filter is the Hydraulic filter (SKU-250014).

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 hitch operation and adjustment

The hitch has a control lever with an adjustable stop. You regulate the lowering speed with a dial on the hitch cover. Adjust the stop so that the relief valve does not keep blowing when the hitch is fully raised.

If the hitch jerks, the pump is not receiving enough oil. In that case, replace the hydraulic filter and the oil. There is no separate screen in the system, only the spin-on filter. If the tractor is cold, let it warm up first.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 hitch relief pressure

The hydraulic relief pressure of the hitch is 139 to 144 bar. The relief valve on the E1802 and E1804 is located on the right side of the hitch cover. You adjust the pressure using shims: 1 mm is approx. 14 bar. Keep the pressure within 139 to 144 bar.

Part Specification
Hitch relief pressure 139 to 144 bar
Relief valve on the right of the hitch cover
Shims 1 mm is approx. 14 bar
Pump gear pump on the timing gear cover
New pump run-in approx. 30 minutes idle without load

14 bar per mm, how do you use that? If the pressure is too low by approx. 14 bar, you add 1 mm of shims. Then measure again with a pressure gauge.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 PTO with freewheel

You operate the PTO with a lever. It runs at 540 rpm and has a built-in freewheel. A mid-PTO is only available on the hydrostatic version. A front PTO was an option, with an electric clutch from the crankshaft pulley. On the hydrostatic version, the PTO lever must be disengaged in order to start.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 power and versions

Specification E1802 / E1804
Drive E1802 is 2WD, E1804 is 4WD
Power 18 hp (indicative, not from the manual)
Manual transmission 12 forward and 4 reverse, with creeper gear (approx. 5.8:1)
Hydrostatic transmission with mid-PTO
Options front PTO, power steering

18 hp, is that the PTO power? No. 18 hp is an indicative value for the engine and is not in the workshop manual. We have not confirmed a PTO power rating for the E1802 and E1804.
