Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 engine oil and fluids: which oil and how much?

The Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 take 3.7 L of engine oil, 4.0 L for the cooling system, and approx. 23 L (manual transmission) or approx. 26 L (hydrostatic) for the transmission. On this page you can read which oil to use, where to drain and fill, and how many bottles to order.

Changing Hinomoto E1804 engine oil

Suitable for the entire series: Hinomoto E1802 (2WD) and E1804 (4WD) with Toyosha CS112 engine.

Front axle final drive per side (4WD) 0.4 L SAE 80, API GL-3 or GL-4

The engine oil type is not listed in the workshop manual. We supply 15W-40.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 engine oil

The engine takes 3.7 L of oil including filter. The workshop manual does not specify a change interval. Always change the engine oil and oil filter before winter storage. Always check the level with the dipstick. After starting, check that the oil pressure light goes out. The oil pressure should be approx. 1.0 bar at 800 rpm and approx. 4.9 bar at 2700 rpm.

Tip: one bottle Engine oil 15W-40 5 L (SKU-15W40) is enough for a 3.7 L oil change.

Draining and filling Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 transmission oil

Transmission, rear axle and hydraulics share the same oil. The drain plug is located in the middle under the transmission housing. Lower the 3-point lift before draining. The dipstick and filler cap are located on top of the transmission, in front of the seat.

Check the level with the tractor on a level surface and the 3-point lift lowered. When draining, some oil remains in the housing. Therefore, fill according to the dipstick and not the number of liters. Change the oil after the first 50 hours and then every 200 hours, together with the hydraulic filter.

23 L or 26 L? The manual transmission takes approx. 23 L, the hydrostatic version approx. 26 L. In both cases you need 3 bottles of 10 L.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 injection pump oil

The injection pump has its own sump with 200 ml of engine oil and is not lubricated by the engine. Check the level every 100 hours or every two weeks and change the oil every 400 hours. If the pump runs dry, the cam will wear and the pump will deliver insufficient output. After long periods of inactivity, the plungers may become stuck.

200 ml, which oil? Standard engine oil. You fill the pump separately, independently of the engine sump.

Hinomoto E1804 front axle oil

Only the E1804 has a driven front axle. The center housing takes 1.5 L and each final drive takes 0.4 L. The manual specifies SAE 80, API GL-3 or GL-4. If your tractor is a Japanese import, replace the front axle oil. In practice, water is sometimes present and the oil seal is worn. The transmission oil and hydraulic filter on such tractors have usually never been replaced.

Is 1 bottle of front axle oil enough? Yes. The center housing and both final drives take a total of 2.3 L, so 1 bottle of 4 L is sufficient.
