Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 filters and filter kit: which filters and when to replace them

For the filters of the Hinomoto E1802 and E1804, there is a dedicated filter kit. Below you can read which filters are on the tractor, when to replace them, and how to bleed the system afterwards.

Hinomoto E1804 filters: oil filter, fuel filter, and air filter

Suitable for the entire series: Hinomoto E1802 (2WD) and E1804 (4WD) with Toyosha CS112 engine.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 filters at a glance

Filter When
Fuel filter bowl Check daily for water
Hydraulic filter (also filters transmission oil) After the first 50 hours, then every 200 hours
Fuel filter Every 200 hours
Engine oil filter Together with the engine oil

The workshop manual does not specify an interval for the engine oil and engine oil filter. Replace the oil filter together with the engine oil, in any case before winter storage.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 filter kit

The filter kit for the E1802 and E1804 is different from the one for the Hinomoto C142 up to and including C174. Therefore, make sure to order the kit for the E-series.

Tip: the kit for this tractor is the Filter kit Hinomoto E1802/E1804 (SKU-10034). The product page shows which filters are included.

Replacing the Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 hydraulic filter

The hydraulic filter is located at the top left of the transmission housing. It also filters the transmission oil, as the transmission and hydraulics share the same oil. Replace the filter after the first 50 hours and then every 200 hours, together with the transmission and hydraulic oil.

  • First coat the sealing ring with clean oil.
  • Tighten the new filter by hand.
  • Then check the oil level on the dipstick, with the tractor on a level surface and the 3-point hitch lowered.

There is no separate strainer in this system, only the spin-on filter. If the pump receives too little oil, the hitch will start to jerk. In that case, replace the filter and the oil.

50 hours, does that also apply after an overhaul? Yes. After the first 50 hours, including after an overhaul, you should replace the transmission and hydraulic oil and the hydraulic filter. In the case of Japanese imports, these have usually never been replaced. Do so immediately if that is the case.

Tip: the Hydraulic filter (SKU-250014) fits the E1802 and E1804 according to the product page.

Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 fuel filter and filter bowl

The fuel filter has a glass bowl where you can see water. Check it every day, especially after sitting idle for a long time. Replace the filter every 200 hours. Fill the tank after work; this minimizes condensation in the tank.

200 hours, does that apply to both filters? Yes. Both the fuel filter and the hydraulic filter should be replaced every 200 hours.

Bleeding the Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 after a filter change

Bleed the fuel system after a filter change. Never start the engine with air in the system, as this will damage the injection pump. Follow these steps:

  1. Ensure clean diesel and open the valve on the filter.
  2. If the bowl does not fill up, loosen the bowl slightly until it fills.
  3. Loosen the bleed screw on the injection pump by 1.5 to 2 turns, never completely remove it.
  4. Let the diesel run until there are no more bubbles and tighten the screw.
  5. Give half throttle and start the engine.

If it does not start, loosen the high-pressure lines at the injectors and crank until diesel comes out everywhere. Then tighten them and restart. You can also find all the steps in Hinomoto E1802 and E1804 starting, preheating, and bleeding.
