The right oil and the right amount: below you'll find all fluid specifications and capacities for the Yanmar EG220, EG224 and EG230 from the original factory manual.
Suitable for the entire series: EG220, EG222, EG224, EG227 and EG230 — including the Q (cab), U (Nicety UFO), X (J-change) and J (high speed, including EG227J and EG230J) versions.
The manual specifies a diesel engine oil SAE 10W-30, class API CD or higher (original Yanmar Super Nooki or Super Royal 10W-30). A good mineral 15W-40 API CD is widely used in Dutch practice and works well for normal seasonal work; in severe frost and cold starts, opt for the thinner 10W-30 instead. Change the oil for the first time after 50 hours, then every 100 hours or annually.

Important: on these tractors, the transmission oil is also the hydraulic and power steering oil. Use the prescribed TF-500 for this; the wrong oil can disrupt the lifting function and power steering system. The front axle has its own separate #90 gear oil — don't confuse the two.
