Clean filters are the cheapest life insurance for your Mitsubishi MT14, MT15, MT16, MT17, MT18 or MT20. On this page you'll find out which filters the MT series has, how often you should replace them, and how to get it right in one go with a single filter kit.
Suitable for the entire series: Mitsubishi MT14, MT15, MT16, MT17, MT18 and MT20 (2WD and 4WD/D).

The MT tractors have four filters that need regular attention: an engine oil filter, a fuel filter, an air filter and — for the hydraulics — a hydraulic filter. In addition, a complete oil change always includes a new drain plug gasket, a detail that's often forgotten and ends up causing oil leaks.
| Filter | Maintenance |
|---|---|
| Engine oil filter (cartridge) | 1st time after 50 hrs, then every 100 hrs (together with the oil) |
| Fuel filter | clean ± 100 hrs, replace ± 200 hrs |
| Air filter | clean every 50 hrs (compressed air below 7 kgf/cm²), replace in time |
| Hydraulic filter | 1st time after 100 hrs, then every 300 hrs |
It's most convenient to replace the oil, fuel, and air filters together. The complete filter kit for the MT series includes all three filters plus the drain plug with copper gasket, so you can do a full service in one go without forgetting anything.
Clean the air filter (approximately 83 mm diameter, 185 mm long) every 50 hours, carefully, from the inside out using dry compressed air at a pressure below 7 kgf/cm². A clogged air filter is a classic cause of white exhaust smoke and power loss. If it's torn or clogged, replace the filter immediately.
The hydraulics have their own screw-on filter, which you replace for the first time after 100 hours and then every 300 hours after that. A clogged hydraulic filter (or the internal strainer) is in practice the most common cause of a slow, jerky, or weak lift. So replace the filter on time and then top up with the correct transmission/hydraulic oil.
