Suitable for the entire Kubota GL series: GL201, GL221, GL241, GL261, GL277, GL281, GL301, GL321, GL337, GL367, GL417 and GL467 (also known as the Hinomoto NX series). The oil types are the same across the whole series; the quantities differ per model. Below you'll find the capacities per model group, taken directly from the Kubota manual.
| Fluid | GL201–GL241 | GL261–GL337 | GL367–GL467 | Type |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Engine oil | 5.7 L | 5.7 L | 8.2 L | Diesel engine oil CC/CD, SAE 30 or 10W-30 |
| Transmission/hydraulic oil | 29–36 L | 35–37 L | 41 L | Super UDT (UTTO / GL-4) |
| Front axle (4WD) | 3.2 L | 3.5 L | 3.9 L | Super UDT |
| Coolant | 6.0 L | 7.0 L | 6.9 L | Antifreeze (LLC) 50% |
| Fuel (diesel) | 27 L | 27–35 L | 35 L | Diesel / gas oil |
| Steering gear oil (manual steering) | 0.2 L | 0.2 L | n/a (power steering) | Super UDT |
Always fill engine oil up to the upper mark on the dipstick and check the level with the tractor level. The exact amount depends on your specific model and configuration – consult your manual if in doubt.
Kubota specifies a diesel engine oil of CC or CD class for the GL series, with a viscosity of SAE 30 or 10W-30. In practice, most owners today use a modern multigrade 15W-40 (API SG/CD) as a common alternative – it flows quickly during cold starts and holds up well during hot, heavy-duty work, all year round. The three-cylinder models (GL201 through GL337) need about 5.7 liters ; the larger four-cylinder models (GL367 through GL467) need about 8.2 liters.
The GL series shares one oil bath for the transmission and hydraulics. The capacity increases with the model: from about 29–36 liters for the smaller models to 41 liters for the GL367–GL467. Kubota specifies Super UDT for this, a special UTTO oil that simultaneously lubricates the gearbox, hydraulics, and wet brakes. Do not use regular engine oil for this: the wet brakes and hydraulics specifically require these UTTO properties. An equivalent GL-4 UTTO oil is a good alternative.
The front axle has its own, smaller oil bath – 3.2 liters for the smallest models, increasing to 3.9 liters for the largest – also using UTTO oil. Don't forget this during a major service; a dry-run front axle is an expensive repair.
The cooling system holds 6 to 7 liters, depending on the model. Always use a mixture of antifreeze (long-life coolant) with water, approximately 50/50. An incorrect mixing ratio causes freeze damage in winter and overheating in summer. Replace the coolant every two years; old coolant loses its corrosion-preventing properties.
