Regular maintenance is the key to a long life for your Iseki TE4270. Most of the work is inexpensive and simple. Below you'll find the complete maintenance schedule from the manual, plus how much goes into each component and what type.

The intervals are based on operating hours (hour meter). Symbols: ○ check · ● replace · △ clean/service.
| Component | Interval |
|---|---|
| Coolant level | Check daily · replace annually |
| Radiator grille | Check/clean daily |
| V-belt tension | Check daily |
| Engine oil | Replace after 100 hours (every 100 hours thereafter) |
| Transmission oil | Check after 100 hours · replace after 600 hours |
| Injection pump oil | Check after 100 hours · replace after 300 hours |
| Power steering oil | Check after 100 hours · replace after 300 hours |
| Front axle oil (4WD) | Check after 100 hours · replace after 900 hours |
| Engine oil filter | Replace after 300 hours |
| Fuel filter (strainer) | Clean after 100 hours · replace after 300 hours |
| Air filter | Clean after 100 hours |
| Hydraulic filter | Clean after first 50 hours, then every 100 hours |
| Grease nipples | Grease every 50 hours (and after every use in wet/flooded soil) |
| Front wheel hubs | Grease after 600 hours |
| Rubber pipes/hoses | Check after 100 hours |
| Tire pressure, electrics, brake/clutch clearance, battery electrolyte | Check daily / periodically |
For a new or recently overhauled TE4270, the break-in period deserves extra attention. The hydraulic filter should be cleaned after just the first 50 hours (then every 100 hours), and during this phase you should also check extra carefully for leaks and loose connections.
Type: SAE 10W-30 engine oil, API class CB or equivalent (or better). In practice, a good multigrade such as our 15W40 engine oil (SKU-15W40) is excellently suited for this engine. Capacity: 4.8 liters.
Drain via the drain plug at the bottom of the oil pan, then fill with fresh oil through the dipstick tube to the correct level. Check the level on level ground and wait at least 3 minutes after switching off. Too high a level causes white smoke; too low causes overheating or seizing.
Type: SAE 80 transmission oil — for example our GL-4 transmission/hydraulic oil (SKU-15W402). Capacity: 34.5 liters. Interval: check after 100 hours, replace after 600 hours. Drain via the plug at the bottom of the transmission housing, then top up to level.
Type: SAE 80 or 90 transmission oil — our 80W90 front axle oil GL-4 (SKU-80W90). Capacity: 5 liters. Interval: check after 100 hours, replace after 900 hours. Check: remove the fill plug on the left side and check that the axle shaft is just level with the oil.
Type: hydraulic oil — the same GL-4 hydraulic/transmission oil (SKU-15W402). Capacity: 2 liters. Level below the lower limit? Top up with the same hydraulic oil. Replace after 300 hours.
A commonly overlooked point: the injection pump takes 0.14 liters (140 cc) engine oil (SKU-15W40). Check after 100 hours, replace after 300 hours.
Capacity: 7 liters, clean soft water + antifreeze if needed — such as our coolant down to -40 °C (SKU-125001). Replace annually. Drain via the drain tap with the radiator cap removed (only when the engine is cold!), flush with clean water, and fill up to the filler neck. Tighten the cap securely — a loose cap causes coolant loss.
Grease all grease nipples every 50 hours, and also after every time you've worked in wet or flooded soil. The front wheel hubs are greased after 600 hours.
Keep the tank full and never let it run completely empty — if air gets into the fuel system, the engine will start poorly or deliver little power. If the engine has trouble drawing in fuel, the fuel feed pump (SKU-56007) is a common, inexpensive culprit. Bleed the system via the bleed screws on the fuel strainer and the injection pump, while pumping the feed pump lever up and down a few times.
