Restoring an Iseki tractor – How do I spray / paint my tractor in the correct colors?

Who wouldn't want their tractor to be in the best possible condition? Over time, we've seen many examples. There are tractors that still have their original paint, ones that have been repainted – read: restored – and some poorer examples that definitely need it. Many dealers partially repaint a tractor to make it look better for sale. However, one wants a tractor to look as good as new again.

How do you approach this?

First of all, what not everyone knows is that the paint on an Iseki consists of 'Unielak'. This type of paint is very easy to polish, resulting in a high gloss, meaning repainting isn't always necessary. With Commandant or another polishing agent, this is very easy to apply by hand. A tractor benefits greatly from this with only minimal effort.

The second option is the spray can. If the paint can no longer be saved because it has come loose and/or rust has formed, you can repaint the paint section by section. This is relatively simple to do, but you must tape off the tractor so that spray mist doesn't end up everywhere.

There are a number of suggestions for spraying the tractor in the color that Iseki used. Personally, especially for the older series, the color code RAL5005 comes close. Everyone has their own preference, of course, but this is mainly the color that matches best for the Iseki TX and Landleader. For Iseki white, you can use RAL 9001, but this is on the whiter side. You could also go for a more cream-colored shade. Motip has a very good variant for this, making the industrial paint perfect. It dries within 3 minutes and the result is amazing! Incidentally, people on forums say that Ford blue is also very similar to the Iseki TS and Landhope series. We personally think it's just a bit too light.

Ultimately, the best choice is to disassemble the bodywork and have the chassis sprayed separately by a professional. It often costs 300 to 400 euros, but you get a fantastic end result. They measure the color code, allowing them to spray it back exactly in the colors of the original.

What to do with stickers?

The best approach is to tape off all the original stickers, so you retain the most original result possible. We also offer stickers for Iseki TX models. For information about other stickers, please email: [email protected]
