What Can You Do with the Iseki TE4270? Implements and Applications

With 27 HP, a category I 3-point hitch category I and a two-speed power take-off (PTO), the Iseki TE4270 is a versatile mini tractor for garden, land, and light agricultural work. In this guide, we'll cover what the TE4270 can handle — and where its limits lie.

PTO specifications

The PTO has two speeds, with these (factory-specified) rotation speeds:

PTO setting PTO speed Corresponding engine speed
Setting 1 540 rpm 2,280 rpm
Setting 2 1,000 rpm 2,540 rpm

The PTO shaft is a JIS 35, 6-spline design. The 540 setting is your workhorse for most implements (tiller, mower, flail mower); the 1,000 setting is used for implements that require a high rotation speed. You shift using the PTO speed lever; the drive itself is engaged with the PTO clutch lever (and on the independent version, with the PTO switch).

3-point hitch

The TE4270 has a category Ihitch, hydraulically operated, with position control (and on the M/P/S types, optional draft control). Practical points from the manual:

  • Check chains limit the sideways swing of the lower lift arms. For plows, harrows, and tillers, set them tightly; for other implements, the arms may swing 5-6 cm to either side.
  • Top link is telescopic — use it to adjust the tilt angle of the implement. Usually use the second or third hole from the top.
  • Lift rods have two adjustment holes: one for the rotary tiller, one for other implements.
  • Lowering speed is controlled with the lowering speed knob; in the LOCK position, the implement stays raised.

Which implements fit?

With 27 HP, the TE4270 falls into the light-to-medium segment of mini tractors. A fair assessment per implement:

  • Rotary tiller / soil tiller: excellently suited. Choose a working width that matches the track width (about 90-110 cm); on heavy clay, go slightly narrower for sufficient rotational force.
  • Flail mower / rotary mower: great for grass and rough terrain on the 540 PTO setting. Keep the working width realistic for tall, wet grass.
  • Plow: a single-furrow (or light double-furrow) plow is achievable, especially with 4WD and some ballast. On heavy clay, you'll notice that 27 HP and the weight (1,020-1,110 kg) have their limits — shift down and use 4WD.
  • Snow plow / snow blower: very doable, especially with 4WD and some extra ballast at the rear.
  • Sweeper: light work, no problem.
  • Front loader: possible on suitable versions. Important: if a front loader is mounted, the manual specifies that you should increase front tire pressure to 1.5× the normal value. You can find the normal pressure on the side of the tire or in the manual for your version.

HP vs. weight — the practice

The TE4270 weighs 1,020 kg (2WD) to 1,110 kg (4WD). That's enough for most garden and land tasks, but with heavy pulling work (plowing in wet clay) you may run into traction or power limits. Three practical solutions: add ballast weight, engage 4WD, and shift down to a lower gear so the engine stays in its torque range.

Frequently asked questions

"Does a standard tiller fit?" Yes, provided it's category I and has a suitable working width. The lift rods even have a separate adjustment hole for the rotary tiller.
"How much can it tow?" It's suitable for light trailers/implements via the tow hitch; for heavy pulling work, weight is the limiting factor, not HP alone.
"Can I mount a front loader on it?" Yes, on suitable versions — first increase the front tire pressure to 1.5× the normal value (see the side of the tire or the manual), as prescribed by the manufacturer.

💡 Shop4trac tip: Is your clutch slipping under PTO load? Then the clutch plate (SKU-75030) is often the cause.
