A good Mitsubishi GS16-GS25 maintenance schedule keeps your mini tractor reliable for years to come. On this page you'll find the complete periodic maintenance schedule from the original manual, with the intervals per component and the adjustment values you need to correctly adjust the fan belt, clutch and brakes — valid for the GS16, GS18, GS20, GS21, GS23 and GS25.
Suitable for the entire series: Mitsubishi GS16, GS18, GS20, GS21, GS21S, GS23, GS25 and GS25S.
The intervals are a general guideline based on operating hours (read on the hour meter). If deviations occur, check and adjust immediately. Pay attention to the first run-in service: engine oil, oil filter, transmission, front axle and hydraulic oil must be changed earlier the first time.
| Component | Action | Interval |
|---|---|---|
| Engine oil | Check level / change | Before use / 1st time 50 hrs, then every 100 hrs |
| Engine oil filter | Replace | 1st time 50 hrs, then every 100 hrs |
| Fuel filter | Clean / replace element | Clean 50 hrs / replace 200 hrs |
| Fuel hose | Check / replace | 200 hrs |
| Air filter element | Check / clean | 100 hrs (in dusty conditions: daily) |
| Coolant (radiator) | Change | Annually |
| Fan belt | Check / tension | 100 hrs |
| Hydraulic oil filter | Replace | 1st time 100 hrs, then every 300 hrs |
| Transmission oil | Top up / change | Top up 50 hrs / change 1st time 100 hrs, then 200 hrs |
| Front axle oil | Top up / change | Top up 50 hrs / change 1st time 100 hrs, then 200 hrs |
| Grease points (rod end, pedal bushings) | Lubricate | 50 hrs |
| Clutch and brake pedal | Check / adjust | Before use |
| Tyre pressure, bolts/nuts | Check | Before use |
| Steering and lift hydraulic hoses | Replace | Every 2 years |
Wear and stretch mean that factory-set components need to be readjusted over time. These are the original adjustment values to work with:
| Component | Adjustment value |
|---|---|
| Fan belt deflection | 10-13 mm (at approx. 10 kg finger pressure, midway on the long span) |
| Clutch pedal free play | 20-30 mm |
| Brake pedal free play | 35-45 mm per side (left and right equal!) |
You tension the fan belt via the tilt of the alternator: tilting outward tensions it, tilting inward loosens it. Then tighten the mounting bolts firmly. Note: a belt that's tensioned too tightly puts strain on the bearings and is itself a cause of malfunctions. You adjust the clutch and brake pedal free play via the adjusting rod with lock nut: screwing in reduces the free play, screwing out increases it.
The GS series has separate brake pedals on the left and right. For safe road transport you must connect them with the linking plate, and the free play of both pedals must be exactly equal (35-45 mm). Uneven braking is noticeable by the tractor pulling sideways or leaving a single tyre track when braking hard. Check this after every adjustment: drive and brake, and readjust if the machine doesn't come to a straight stop. This is a genuine safety point — a brake that pulls sideways can be dangerous at high speed or on a slope.
Before each use, check the engine oil level, tyre pressure, battery fluid and whether all levers move smoothly. Clean the radiator screen more often if you work in dusty conditions — a clogged radiator is the number one cause of overheating. Preferably change the oil and filter materials while the oil is still warm; it then drains faster and more completely.
Product tip. Keep your maintenance simple with the right parts on hand. The Filter set Mitsubishi GS series (SKU-100164) covers the oil, fuel and air filter in one go. Check the fan belt every 100 hours; worn? Then the V-belt SKU-1240031 (OEM MD041704) is the direct replacement.
