Iseki GEAS TG21-TG33 Seasonal Maintenance and Storage

Are you planning to store the Iseki GEAS TG for a longer period, for example outside the season? With a few simple steps, you can prevent seized parts, cold damage and a difficult start when putting it back into use. Below is the approach from the factory documentation.

Suitable for the entire series: TG21, TG23, TG25 (+TG25N), TG27, TG29 (+TG29F-16), TG31 and TG33.

Daily Storage

Clean the tractor after use, especially after wet work or ground work. Lower the implement and store it indoors if possible. In severe cold, it's wise to keep the battery indoors — this promotes a reliable cold start. At temperatures below 0°C: use antifreeze or drain the coolant completely to prevent frost damage to the engine block.

Long-Term Storage: Step-by-Step Plan

  1. Fix any defects before storing — a minor issue won't resolve itself during downtime.
  2. Change the engine oil with fresh oil and let the engine idle for about 5 minutes so the oil distributes properly.
  3. Drain the coolant from the radiator and hang a "no water" tag on the steering wheel, so no one accidentally starts the tractor without coolant.
  4. Lubricate all grease points.
  5. Check all bolts and nuts for looseness and retighten them.
  6. Increase the tire pressure slightly above the standard value (see the table in the maintenance schedule blog).
  7. Remove any counterweights.
  8. Detach implements or lower them.
  9. Store in a dry, non-flammable, rain-free location, preferably under a tarp or cover.
  10. Chock the wheels (front and rear).
  11. Remove the battery from the tractor, charge it, store it flat, cool, dark and dry, and disconnect the negative terminal first.
  12. Keep the clutch disengaged via the clutch release lever — this prevents the clutch plate from seizing against the flywheel, a known issue with tractors that stand still for months.

Putting Back Into Use After Long-Term Storage

Perform a thorough daily check before driving: oil level, coolant, tire pressure, grease points. After a cold start, let the engine idle and warm up for about 30 minutes before putting it under load — this is better for engine longevity than starting work immediately.

Anti-Rust Advice for Long-Term Storage

If the tractor is not in use for a while, run the engine for about 5 to 10 minutes at 1500-2000 RPM roughly once a month. This keeps the engine, battery and moving parts in good condition and prevents seizing and condensation buildup.

Parts Availability: Something to Consider

The manufacturer guarantees parts supply for up to 12 years after the end of production of a model; after that, delivery is only possible on request, with varying lead times and prices. For a tractor of this age, this means in practice that original Iseki parts can sometimes be difficult or slow to obtain — a good reason to look at quality alternatives for commonly used parts (filters, seals, gaskets) that are readily available in stock.

Preparing for Storage or the New Season: change the engine oil and filters with the GEAS TG21-333 filter set (SKU-10063) and check the battery in time. Also check out the maintenance schedule blog for the full list of checkpoints.
