Please note:

There is a heavier version of this starter motor that looks almost identical: also 9 teeth, 74 mm flange, but 2.0 kW instead of 1.1 kW. This belongs to the four-cylinder Perkins 404 series and larger Weidemann models from the 1260 onwards. Therefore, check the number on your old starter motor:

• This 1.1 kW version: Bosch 0001107078, Perkins U5MK8259, 185086321, Hitachi S114-381.
• The 2.0 kW version: Bosch 0001109035 or 0001109509, Perkins U5MK8260 or U5MK8261. You can find it here: starter motor Perkins 403D | 404D 2.0 kW.
• The 1.2 kW version (Hitachi S114-218, JCB 714/40460, Ford SBA185086110) also has 9 teeth and a 74 mm flange, but the solenoid is at a different angle (+82° instead of +43°). This is fitted on the Ford and New Holland 1100 to 1300 and the JCB 8008 CTS and 15C-1 to 19C-1. You can find it here: starter motor Perkins 403D-07 | JCB 8008 CTS 1.2 kW.
• The 1.4 kW Denso version (Denso 428000-3570, Perkins 185086670 or 185086680) also has 9 teeth and a 74 mm flange, but the solenoid is at +50°. This is fitted on the Perkins 404C-15 and 404D-15 as well as some Kioti CS2610 and Weidemann models with Perkins 403D-11 engines. You can find it here: starter motor Perkins 404C-15 | 404D-15 1.4 kW.
• The 0.8 kW version with 8 teeth (Mitsubishi M2T47281, Perkins 185086540, Volvo Penta 3803904) is fitted on the Volvo Penta MD2010, MD2020, D1-13 and D1-20 and on some Perkins 102-05 and 103-07 engines.
