PTO slip clutch – Optimum protection and smooth shifting
On tractors without a continuous PTO shaft , shifting or stopping during mowing and other PTO-driven tasks can be a challenge. A slip clutch offers the ideal solution.
What does a slip clutch do?
A slip clutch is fitted between the tractor’s PTO and the implement PTO . Its main function is to reduce the forces on the transmission and provide a smooth transition when the PTO stops or the machine is suddenly loaded. This prevents shock loading and wear on both the tractor and the implement.
Advantages of a slip clutch during mowing work:
✅ Smooth shifting – The slip clutch ensures that the mower does not come to an abrupt stop when the PTO is disengaged.
✅ Transmission Protection – Prevents overload and damage to the tractor’s gears and clutch.
✅ Work more efficiently – Ideal for tasks such as mowing, milling or chopping , where the PTO transmits a lot of power.
✅ Longer PTO shaft life – The slip clutch significantly reduces shock loads on the PTO shaft.
The perfect solution for older tractors
Many older tractors do not have a freewheel or PTO shaft . This means that the rotation of the implement directly affects the drive of the tractor, making shifting difficult. A slip clutch helps solve this problem by creating a controlled transition when engaging and disengaging the PTO.
With a slip clutch you not only work more safely , but you also extend the life of both your tractor and your implement !
