Kubota GL201 – GL301 – GL467 maintenance schedule

Kubota GL201 – GL301 – GL467 maintenance schedule: what to replace and when

Suitable for the entire Kubota GL series: GL201, GL221, GL241, GL261, GL277, GL281, GL301, GL321, GL337, GL367, GL417 and GL467 (also known as the Hinomoto NX series). This maintenance schedule comes from the shared GL series manual and applies to the entire range.

A Kubota GL series tractor (GL201, GL221, GL241, GL261, GL277, GL281, GL301, GL321, GL337, GL367, GL417 or GL467) that is properly maintained will last a lifetime. In this maintenance schedule you'll see exactly what to do and when – from the first oil change after break-in to the major intervals. All intervals come directly from the original Kubota GL series manual. Stick to this and you'll avoid the most costly breakdowns.

Break-in: the first 50 hours

A new or freshly overhauled GL201 should be broken in carefully. Avoid sudden full throttle and heavy loads during the first ~50 hours, always let the engine warm up, and don't do any heavy work yet. Important: after those first 50 hours, change the engine oil and engine oil filter. That's the point at which the first break-in particles disappear from the engine.

The complete maintenance schedule

Component What Interval
Engine oil change 1st after 50 hrs, then every 100 hrs
Engine oil filter replace 1st after 50 hrs, then every 200 hrs
Hydraulic oil filter replace 1st after 100 hrs, then every 200 hrs
Transmission/hydraulic oil change 1st after 100 hrs, then every 400 hrs
Front axle oil bath (4WD) change every 300 hrs
Air filter element clean / replace clean every 100 hrs, replace annually
Fuel filter element replace every 400 hrs
Fan belt (V-belt) adjust tension every 100 hrs
Clutch and brake pedal adjust play 1st after 50 hrs, then every 100 hrs
Grease nipples / lubrication points grease every 50 hrs
Battery fluid check every 100 hrs
Steering gear oil (manual steering) check every 400 hrs
Fuel line check / replace check every 50 hrs, replace every 2 years
Radiator hoses replace every 2 years
Coolant change every 2 years
Valve clearance check/adjust every 800 hrs (workshop)
Front axle play adjust every 600 hrs (workshop)

In practice: how to plan smartly

For most hobby and part-time users, a GL201 won't run hundreds of hours per year. That's why, in addition to the hours, you should also keep the calendar in mind: change the engine oil and clean the air filter at least once a year, even if you don't reach 100 hours. Replace coolant, radiator hoses, and fuel lines every two years – rubber and fluids age even if the tractor doesn't run much.

The smartest approach is to combine the two recurring services: the "minor service" (engine oil + engine oil filter + air filter + fuel filter check) and the "major service" (which also includes transmission/hydraulic oil, hydraulic filter, and front axle oil). Also check which filters the Kubota GL201 needs and how much oil and fluids it takes.

💡 Shop4trac tip: Get the filter service right in one go with the Filter set Kubota GL201 (SKU-10030). When changing the oil, don't forget the copper sump plug seal (SKU-410054) – it prevents oil leaks around the drain plug.
