Kubota B7001 engine oil and fluids: types and quantities

Which engine oil goes into a Kubota B7001, and how much? And what about the transmission oil, front axle oil, and coolant? In this article you'll find all the oil types and exact quantities for the B7001/B7001E, straight from the Kubota manual. This way you can do a proper oil change in one go and avoid costly damage caused by the wrong or too little oil.

Suitable for the entire series: Kubota B7001, B7001E, B7001DT, B6001 and Zen-Noh ZB7001 / ZB6001.

The Kubota D750 diesel engine in the B7001 requires a good diesel engine oil. Kubota's manual specifies an all-season engine oil of type SAE 10W-30 (at temperatures above 15 °C a single-grade SAE 30 is also allowed). In practice, many owners nowadays use a common modern 15W-40 diesel oil; this is a widely used alternative, but it deviates from the original specification — choose consciously.

Specification Value
Oil type (manual) Diesel engine oil SAE 10W-30 (or SAE 30 above 15 °C)
Engine oil capacity 3.9 liters
Oil change interval First time after running-in, then every 75 hours (up to approx. 150 hours when using original all-season oil)
Oil filter Replace cartridge every 150 hours

Kubota B7001 transmission and hydraulic oil (transmission case)

In the B7001, the transmission and hydraulics share the same oil reservoir: the transmission case. This holds 11.5 liters of universal transmission/hydraulic oil of the UTTO type. Change this oil every 300 hours. This oil not only lubricates the gears but also feeds the lift mechanism — so old or contaminated oil will immediately show up as a slower or malfunctioning lift system.

Kubota B7001 front axle oil (4WD only)

If you have the four-wheel-drive B7001 / B7001DT, the front axle has its own oil reservoirs that are often overlooked. This is exactly where costly damage occurs due to too little oil or moisture ingress.

Component (4WD) Oil type Capacity
Front axle (central housing) Kubota gear oil SAE 80 0.7 liters
Front wheel gear case, left SAE 80 0.15 liters
Front wheel gear case, right SAE 80 0.15 liters

Kubota B7001 coolant

The cooling system holds 4.6 liters. Use a mixture of coolant (antifreeze) and water, and change it according to the manual every three months under intensive use — in practice at least once a year and definitely before winter. Clean the inside of the radiator every 500 hours. Are the radiator hoses hard or porous? Replace them at the same time; this is common at this age.

💡 Shop4trac tip: When changing the coolant, don't forget the hoses. The radiator hose set including coolant (SKU-33046) includes the upper and lower hose plus 5 liters of coolant — more than enough for the 4.6 liters the B7001 needs.
