The connecting rod bearing sits between the connecting rod and the crankshaft and absorbs the forces from combustion. Worn bearings can be recognized by knocking noises and a drop in oil pressure — timely replacement prevents costly crankshaft damage.

Assembly tip:
When replacing, always check the crankshaft journal for scratches and wear, lubricate the new bearing shells with clean engine oil and tighten the connecting rod bolts according to the specified torque. For a full overhaul, order the matching crankshaft bearing set (main bearings) and gasket set at the same time.
