Please note:

Caterpillar later reused the model numbers 301.5 through 304.5 for newer machines with a different engine and a different alternator. Therefore, please check the engine type and the number on the nameplate of your old alternator:

• Newer 301.5, 301.6, and 301.8 (Next Gen) with the Cat C1.1 engine: these feature a 65 A alternator (Cat 394-3494, Perkins 2871A301). This Denso 55A does not fit those. You can find the 65A alternator here: alternator Perkins 1004 | 1104C | Cat C1.1 | Caterpillar 301.5 – 304 CR 12V 65A.
• 303.5E CR with the Cat C1.8 engine: different alternator (Denso 101211-8630, Cat 290-5806). Not interchangeable.
• Cat 3024 and 3034 engines in skid steer loaders 216 through 262 and wheel loaders 902 and 906: these typically use a different Denso alternator (101211-2770, Cat 144-9954 / 0R-9700) or a 90 A version (Cat 144-9964). Check the nameplate before ordering.
• Caterpillar 216B through 247B with the Perkins 404D-22 engine: these have an 85 A alternator. You can find it here: alternator Perkins 404D-22 | Caterpillar 216B – 247B 85A.
• Perkins 103 and 104 engines: the Cat 3003, 3013, and 3024 belong to the Perkins 103/104 series family (built by Perkins Shibaura), but those Perkins engines typically use an alternator with a Perkins part number. This alternator is not confirmed for them. Compare the number on your old alternator.
