New starter motor 12V 2.0 kW with 9 teeth for the Isuzu 3LD1, 3LD2, 4LE1 and 4LE2 engine, Isuzu 8-97112-865 (Denso 228000-3850). This starter motor is fitted on the John Deere 27C ZTS, 35C ZTS and 50C ZTS mini excavators and the Hitachi EX40U and EX50U. A 1-to-1 replacement for the original Denso reduction starter motor.

Several starter motors exist for Isuzu 3LD and 4LE engines that look almost identical. Please check the voltage, power, and the part number on your old starter motor:

• 12V 1.4 kW with 9 teeth: Isuzu 8-97048-966 (Denso 228000-1120, 228000-1980, 228000-2000) for the Isuzu 3LA1, 3LB1, 3LD1 and 3LD2. Lighter and not the same part. You can find it here: starter motor Isuzu / Iseki 1.4 kW.
• 24V version for the 3LD1: Isuzu 8-97107-594 (Denso 228000-3950). This is used on, among others, Hitachi EX32UE, EX35U and EX38UE. Therefore, always check the voltage on the nameplate for Hitachi EX27U and EX35U; this 12V starter motor is not compatible with a 24V machine.
• Isuzu 4LE2X in Hitachi ZX70-3 to ZX85USB-3 and John Deere 75D/85D: these feature a 24V 3.2 kW starter motor with 11 teeth. You can find it here: starter motor Isuzu 4LE2 24V 3.2 kW.
• Hitachi ZX50U (Isuzu 4LE2): is also cross-referenced to this starter motor in some cross-reference lists, but this has not been confirmed by a second source. Please compare the number on your old starter motor with the numbers below.
